Background & Interests:  Mr. Basista loves teaching at Holy Trinity School, a place that holds special significance for him as a parishioner. He values Catholic education because it provides students with both academic knowledge and the opportunity to explore deeper existential questions. In addition to his classroom teaching experience, he has over five years of involvement in youth group leadership and Catholic campus ministry, where he has helped young people grow in both faith and understanding. He is passionate about broadening students' perspectives on history and theology, encouraging them to think critically about the past and its connection to the present.

Beyond teaching, Mr. Basista enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, whether paddleboarding on Lake Erie or hiking in the mountains. They are also proud pet parents to two cats who keep their home lively and entertaining. Earlier in 2024, they welcomed their son, J.J., into their family, and he has been their greatest source of joy.

Mr. Basista has a deep love for philosophy, drawing inspiration from the Doctors of the Church in his studies and personal reflections. In addition to his academic and theological interests, he is a multi-instrumentalist with a lifelong dream of recording an album entirely on his own. His passion for history, faith, and music brings a unique and enriching perspective to his classroom, where he hopes to inspire students to think deeply and explore their own passions.
