Holy Trinity School receives state funds that provide for auxiliary personnel and services. These staff members are employed through Avon Local Schools or Lorain County. They provide services to the students at Holy Trinity School.
Intervention Specialists
An Intervention Assistance Team meets to discuss students who are referred for interventions by parents, teachers or other educational staff members. This team can include: the principal, teachers, parents, intervention specialists, school psychologist, speech pathologist, and students. A student may be referred for a multi-factored evaluation if the Intervention Assistance Team determines that the student is not responding to interventions and a disability is suspected.
School Nurse
A full-time school nurse ensures that students receive immediate medical attention for injuries or illnesses, contributing to a safer and healthier school environment. The school nurse provides routine hearing screenings and supports the overall well-being of students by managing chronic health conditions and coordinating care with families and healthcare providers.
School Psychologist
A school psychologist plays a vital role in supporting students' mental health and academic success. This individual assess and address students' emotional, behavioral, and learning needs through evaluations, interventions, and counseling. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other school staff, they develop strategies to foster a positive learning environment and provide resources to help students overcome challenges. Responsibilities also include implementing programs to enhance social-emotional learning and ensuring that all students have access to appropriate support services.
Speech Pathologist
A speech program provides complete diagnostics in the following areas: articulation, language (receptive and/or expressive), stuttering, auditory perception, and voice problems (remediation only after otological evaluation). A student may be referred for a routine speech/language screening (done by the Speech Pathologist) by a parent/guardian, the classroom teacher, school nurse, or family physician.
